Open Lab, in a reel
Some things we’ve made
Open Lab is an independent studio based in Italy.
Founded in 2001, the studio has always moved across disciplines. Over time, the work has taken different shapes — games, digital products, interactive installations — but the underlying interest has stayed more or less the same: building systems that people can explore.
We’ve never been particularly interested in storytelling as something fixed or linear. What we care about is what happens when you set rules, define a space, and leave room for interaction.
That’s where things start to feel alive.
In that sense, narrative design is less about writing and more about structuring possibilities.
You don’t tell a story, you make it possible for one to happen.
This reel is a small cross-section of that process.
Different projects, different constraints, same attitude.
If you’ve been following this Substack, this is where those ideas land — not as theory, but as things you can actually navigate, break, and play with.
